SPUR CERTIFICATE
Colonel Scott C.
Woodward, the 68th Colonel of the Regiment (2018-2020), has offered to add any
trooper who served with the regiment in Vietnam to the rolls of the Order of the
Spur and furnish that trooper with a Spur Certificate.
The order of the Spur is a Cavalry tradition within the United States Army, much
like the Cavalry Stetson. Soldiers serving with Cavalry units (referred to as
"Troopers") are inducted into the Order of the Spur after successfully
completing a "Spur Ride" OR for having served during combat as a member of or
with a Cavalry unit. There is no Military Occupational Specialty (MOS)
requirement for the Order of the Spur. Troopers serving in a Cavalry unit during
combat are recognized by their gold spurs.
Those troopers who served with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam and
wish to receive a Spur Certificate should submit their NAME, RANK (highest in
Vietnam), UNIT and DATES along with MAILING ADDRESS to:
