The fighting men of the 11th Cav

By Hans Anderson

They left their homes to go and fight
Under a banner of red and white
They came as strangers to each other
But every one is now a brother
With blood and sweat upon their faces
They fought for us in far off places
Their ties that bind are tracks of steel
Rarely showing how they feel
They meet today to share their tales
Of rubber trees and jungle trails
A debt of thanks this nation owes
To those brave young men in muddy clothes
Eternal peace I hope they have
The fighting men of the 11th Cav
