Fellow Veterans and Supporters,

It has come to our attention that the sacred ground where the names of 729 of our fallen comrades are honored will become the backdrop for an antiwar rally on March 17^th of this year. While most demonstrations appear to begin peacefully, it might be assumed that there may be a few fools who might seize the opportunity to do unthinkable deeds, then escape into a crowd. The history of these protests has included defacing public property and burning the flag we gallantly fought under.

Several veterans’ organizations are supporting a movement which has come to be known as the Gathering of Eagles.  It is their goal to protect the memorials from abuse and damage in a peaceful counter-protest that would shield the memorials from acts of vandalism during the rally. It will also act to show support for our troops while in harms way.
