Joe Driskill (51st Colonel of
the Blackhorse) passed away on Sep. 11. The following note was forwarded by
Don Snedeker. ****************************** Joe died peacefully Thursday, September 11th at Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC . Due to the logistics involved, he will be cremated in NC and his ashes interred in a private ceremony at Driskill Memorial Cemetery at the foot of Driskill Mountain in Arcadia, Louisiana. A Memorial Celebration of Joe's life will be at 2 pm on Saturday the 27th of September at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church in Arcadia, Louisiana. Please e-mail any memory of Joe that you would like to share with others (these stories will be the essence of the Celebration, funny, inspirational, or just anything you want to share) to cdriskill44@msn.com or jcdris@msn.com along with your name and where the story took place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations, in his memory, be made to: The Driskill Memorial Cemetery % Peggy Van Hook P. O. Box 366 Arcadia, Louisiana 71001 or to any charity of your choice. If you are planning on attending and would like to speak, please let me know. I would like to see each and everyone of you but I know that distance and other commitments are problems. The First Baptist Church is located on the left as you travel south from the Interstate. There are two motels just as you take the Arcadia/Dubach exit off of I-20. They are never filled. At present, I am in Durham with only our laptop which isn't up to date with e-mail addresses. Please pass this message to anyone I might have missed. Sincerely, Carolyn Driskill ****************** |
