Arrival at Fort Carson by railway in
Colorado Springs of the mud caked M60 tank from Ft. Hood, Texas. From this point Ft.
Carson personnel began an extensive restoration and demilitarization of the tank so it
could be mounted in a public place at the Shrine of Remembrance. |
m |
On a cold and wet day the tank was
transported to its permanent site at the Shrine of Remembrance. An Army low boy tractor
trailer and heavy equipment was used to mount the 60 ton tank at its permanent site. |

|
Finally the heavy equipment gets the
huge steel armor plate tank into its permanent position despite the mud, and without
starting the engine of the tank, which was disabled as part of the demilitarization. |
